As you may have noticed, it’s almost time to dust off the winter coats, warm up the fireplace, and the start the seat warmers! We have had a few beautiful days mixed in along with the yucky ones. On one such day, I was happy to get outside with one of my best friends, Meghan (who you may have seen taking photos with me!), and her BRAND NEW fiancé, Dan, to take some photos for their save-the-dates! With that being said I would like to hand it over to Meghan and share some of my favorite photos from the day as well.
Good day to you, faithful reader. Allow me to introduce myself, I’m Meghan, Brittany’s rambunctious and rather quirky partner in crime. I was asked to provide you with ‘a little ditty about my love story’ – Brittany’s words, not mine. I am typically a very private person, and as such, am not one to go blathering about when something absolutely glorious happens. However, for this occasion - albeit mainly to make Brittany happy - I shall blather willingly.
It all began one dark and stormy night, many moons ago, in a galaxy far…nevermind, no it didn’t, wrong story. This story started in a corporate maze filled with cubicles, cheap desks, and florescent lights. Ah, the stuff of magic. Picture it, me perched lightly upon my swiveling office chair, in front of my sparsely decorated desk, talking quietly to a friend. A normal day, not unlike any other…UNTIL! In to my little corner of corporate heaven blows the most flamboyant, ridiculously loud and arrogant man I’d ever seen; an outlandishly charming character it would turn out.
At first, I gave this man no time of any day. I was hardened by life and past failed attempts at love. He was young, crass, and all the things I didn’t think I liked. But, just as flowing water over a rock forms the rock to its will, this man formed me to his. I eventually gave in to his incessant invitations, and agreed to go on a date with him.
October 21st, 2013 was our four year anniversary.
We’ve been to Alaska, to Hawaii, and to so many places in between. We’ve survived near-fatal accidents, and braved many a storm in our relationship. He’s been by my side to hold me up and provided my heart and soul much needed shelter during some terrible times. Honestly, I couldn’t imagine this life, neither the last four years nor what lies ahead, without him in it.
And so it was, that on a brisk and utterly random autumn day, when he dropped to his knee and asked me to be his wife, I agreed to marry this man. I honestly never thought that I would marry - odd I know, for a wedding photographer – but true, none the less. Fate, time, and Dan had other plans, it seems. Happily for me, as the case is, I will be walking down the aisle, wearing white and a smile, in the fall of 2014.
So there you have it, the proverbial nutshell version of my love story. If you’ve read this far, I thank you for doing so, and I’m glad to have been able introduce myself to you. I hope we meet one day, and you can share your story with me, if you feel so obliged. For now, have a wonderful day and stay warm. I wish to end this ‘little ditty’ with one of my new favorite quotes, "…and there will come a time, you’ll see, with no more tears…and love will not break your heart, but dismiss your fears."
